I lied...
I have eaten in a restaurant...of sorts...by myself!

I suddenly remembered when my college husband and I were discussing ihop last night!

March 2007 when I was in Arizona and Braidy had class (she is at ASU) I walked to the ASU food court and got an Oreo Starbucks Milkshake (amazing) and then walked to ihop. (International House of Pancakes) and had cinnamon swirl pastry things with this gorgeous drizzled sauce. (OMG sooo amazing)
And I sat by myself in a booth and watched all the other people in the restaurant and wrote my thoughts about them and made up stories in my diary!!

So yes...in fact I have!

No, I don't think I ever have. I think I might feel a little awkward about it.
On the other hand I have two thoughts on the topic:

1. I worked as a waitress at the local pub for several years and I remember very clearly this one woman who came in on her own. She was in her twenties and had a sort of woven, bright coloured hippyish napsack. It may have been stripy, I may be making that up.
She had dark hair and ordered a chicken burger.
I think she might have read a little while she ate but perhaps not.
A few weeks later she came in with a guy. She didn't remember me but I remembered her. I think they had burgers again.
I was impressed by the fact she came in and ate alone quite happily.
But then I was also happy that she had someone she could come back with and share the place with!


2. Last week I sort of went out by myself. Not exactly. But it felt a bit more that way. I left the college bar and walked to Klute (the worst nightclub in Europe!) by myself. I knew there would be people I knew there - it's cardinal law that Castlemen go to Klute on a Thursday!) - and I had plans to meet people in there eventually but I didn't actually _go_ with anyone.
I walked there, I paid, I walked in, I wandered around, I went upstairs, I ordered a drink, I looked about and I went back downstairs, by myself.
And then I found some people.
It sounds silly, but it was nice. I didn't have to think about anyone else and it was all up to me. It felt good.
But it also felt good when I found people.

I am an oxymoron!

Hey people,

Hope you had a fab Christmas and Happy New Year and are getting into the swing of 2009.

I had a lovely hol in the BVIs...it was sunny...and there were beaches and palm trees and blue sea...what more could a girl want!

Sometime I will eventually get my pics up on facebook. (I have summer pics still to put up lol!)

I'm back up to Durham tomorrow. I love it there but I am in two minds about whether I want to go back lol. It's the penultimate term and there is so much to do but at the same time I love it and miss it so want to be back in my castle, lol. I just have the feeling this term is going to be so stressful and there is so much work and job hunting and change that has to happen.
Sigh

Consequently I cannot envisage updating/posting any fics until May.
I have about 27000 words due and two exams between now and 15 May.

I will most likely write sometimes as relaxation but there won't be any posting, sorry.

Never fear though - my exams for Arabic are all early (annoyingly) and my last deadline is 15 May. For everyone else the exam period stars on 17th May for 2/3 weeks so I have lots of time when everyone else is revising.
Obviously I should probably be looking for a job/doing some part time work or something but I declare the need to write too!

I am off to the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean tomorrow evening until 10th January.

We had Christmas dinner tonight so that my dad could drink. Was weird but I had such a laugh with my grandparents :-)

I will aim to have written something to post up when I get back.

Durham Uni has been really unlucky lately.

Late last summer two students died, one of them committed suicide after failing and not being allowed to continue.

In November a guy was attacked in the early hours of the morning in an alley and was not found until several hours later by which time he was hypothermic and in a coma. We still don't know if he has woken up.

Two graduates from last year were both killed in accidents in South America earlier this year, one a girl and one a guy from my college.

On Sunday a guy from my college went missing and was found drowned in Ullswater earlier today.

I know people are dying and being born throughout the world all the time but it's just really hit me that all these things have happened to Durham students in just a year.

I only knew two of them and not really very well but it is so terribly sad. I imagine how their friends and family are feeling, particularly those who just found out today, and I just feel at a loss.

:-(

I planned to have my epilogue finished over the weekend but I haven't quite got it saying what I want it to say yet. Work and various other tasks are keeping me so busy but I guarantee it before the end of August if not before.

Take care everyone. I don't want to hear of any tragedies for a good long while.

Hey guys,

sorry for the update delay...I have many excuses, mainly that I've been ill. Still not quite up and about but hopefully will be by Monday because I start work eek!
Plan is to have the update up by Sunday night and the next and final chapter by end of July.

Am currently dealing with an internet fraudster. Had a lot of suspicious emails and ebay and paypal just confirmed they are fake.
Wooo nothing for you janemichael you dirty little scammer (well attempted scammer!)
Meanwhile the woman (?) who has de-registered from ebay is still emailing me trying to persuade me to send the item and its tracking number because then the money will come through - it's just paypal making it pending because it has to transfer currency and they need the shipping number - she says, unconvincingly.
Wtf?
Also she first gave me one address to post to, then sent another address saying it was for her sister in Nigera for her anniversary(!) and THEN sent another email saying it was for her own wedding anniversary!
Does she think I'm stupid?
I soooo want to write her an email saying "you're a fake. Try sticking to one story."
But I probably shouldn't...!

Aaaaaa!
It is storming like crazy here. I don't think we've had a day without thunder since I got back on Thursday and today it is really giving it's all.
It has been raining pretty much none stop and really heavily all day and there is a good couple of inches just stood on our patio, the drive and the lane are like rivers rushing down a hill and the street outside is underwater along most of it!
And it's thundering. A LOT. LOUDLY. Right above my house.
And there is lightening too.
And it is sooo dark
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! CRAP. That was me actually, really, literally screaming there. I swear it is literaklly right above the corner of my house where my room is. I know I'm not just making that up because this massive flash of lightening came only a milisecond before this canon type thunder. For every second you can count between the lightening and the thunder that is a mile (approx lol) that the storm is away
Some weird shit is going on up there lol.
That ligtening was so weird. I could literally see the shaft of light coming in my window!
So it's dark...except when the lightening appears.
In fact it is so dark and clousy and misty that I can't see the village on the next hill. I can't see more than one field out the back of the house and I can't see the MOORS. The massive great moors that are just two fields away on the other side of the road! ARGH
I feel like my village is in a little bubble. A stormy bubble
Ah, it's moving away now. It's not so loud. Problem is because we live right next to the hills it usually rolls round and round them so no doubt it will reappear in half an hour or so.
Sorry for this ranty ramble. I just do not like storms. I've never liked them but it's a lot worse since I was on the first sailing holiday in Greece and we were trapped on this beach and had to hide in a tiny cave. We couldn't go back to the boats cause the sea got so rough and we'd got to the beach in dinghies and also because the masts are metal and very tall so lightening likes them! I think they must have some kind of lightening conducter thing really...I mean that would be dumb but evidently it just wasn't a good idea to go back to them. Especially since they were crashing around.
Oh and then there was that storm in Croatia where we actually had to SAIL back to the capital because there wasn't enough space at the little marina and it would have been dangerous just anchoring in the bay. And Dad tried to sail for a bit. And then the waves got so big and we were soaked.
Yeah...I have bad experiences with storms!

Aha light appearing on the horizon. The rest of the world hasn't disappeared! lol

I'm tidying my room and I just found a 2 sets of CDs onto which I downloaded all the previews for and episodes of the O.C. Season 3 onto when I was at school.
I had a master set and a set I lent out so pretty much half the school could watch the o.c. lol
Even tho I thought the middle of S3 sucked my housemate was watching S3 again the other week and I remembered all the bits I loved about it. Aw how I miss the OC.

I have the box set of S3 now but it seems a waste to just chuck all the CDs. I'm guessing most people have the DVDs but if anyone doesn't have Season 3 and wants it I'll post you a set.
I have 2 sets of 5 CDS with all the eps and promos
I also have a CD with Imogen Heap's Album Speak for Yourself, one with the tracks from Moulin Rouge 11-20 and A Harry Potter Special 2 CD Edition thing. It has the soundtrack of the first film on the first disc and various trailers, video games previews, wallpapers and posters on the second disc.

Random but I just thought I'd offer them up!

I really wanted to track him down and maybe send him some mints and nectarines (he loves them!) but I couldn't do it in time. I have what I think is the number of where the people I sold him to moved to but he was on loan from them to their family down south in Norfolk or something. I haven't seen him for about 5 years and I still miss him so much. ;-(
Hopefully he's okay and in a few weeks when I'm home I'll be able to really try and get in touch. I'd just so like to hear how he's doing.
